It was 2010 and I was still traveling, still sacrificing, and still trying to start a family. I get a call from my Mom and with her voice quivering on the other end she says, “Your Dad is on his way to the ER, I think he just had his 3rd heart attack” – she was right. Dad previously had two other major heart attacks and thankfully survived. For him to have a third, we knew in our hearts that the probability of a happy ending was not as promising. Two weeks after Dad’s heart attack, my Mother returned to work and was given her notice that it would be her last day. Mom had been there for 10 years and did not see this coming at all; they were simply doing cutbacks.
